Scarborough Humanists; atheists, agnostics and skeptics you’re not alone!
Meet fun, like-minded people for thought-provoking talks and lively group discussions. We care about humans, we’re curious about our universe, and we defy dogma!
We are a group of secular humanists in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. We have different religious or non-religious histories but today identify with labels including atheist, agnostic, deist, bright, rationalist, freethinker, skeptic, and naturalist. We reject traditional religiosity, revelation and sacred books as the basis for our morality or truths. Instead, our worldviews and ethics are based on compassion, empathy, reason, hard work and physical evidence.
What do we want?
- To create a supportive community where we can discuss personal, local, or global concerns with like-minded people.
- To promote Humanistic causes. These include: church, state, and corporate separation; sustainability; defining and defending people’s rights and more.
- To joyfully celebrate human potential, progress and achievement.
What are our values?
We believe we have a responsibility to lead tempered and ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity – guided by reason, inspired by compassion, and tested through critical thinking and the scientific method.
