2023 HumanLight Virtual Celebration

Saturday, December 23 at 6PM EST

As a member of humanist Canada, you are invited to the annual HumanLight Virtual Celebration on Saturday, December 23rd, at 6PM EST.

This year’s timely theme is “Celebrating What Unites Us”.

Your hosts Chaplain Marie-Claire Khadij and Louis O’Reilly look forward to welcoming you to celebrate our common humanity with the lighting of the candles and festive performances.

The HumanLight holiday presents an alternative reason to celebrate in the December holiday season!

Celebrate and express positive humanist ideals and values: Reason, Compassion, Hope.

HumanLight illuminates a positive, secular vision.

Celebrate and promote a positive vision of a better future — a future in which all people can identify with each other and try to behave with high moral standards — a future which people can build by working together for a happy, just and peaceful world, drawing on the best of our human nature and capacities. Celebrate human accomplishments and achievements that help build that future!

In many cultures, late December is a season of good cheer and a time for festive gatherings of friends and families. As part of this holiday season, HumanLight is a festive holiday that is humanity-based and entirely secular — not based on any supernatural, religious or theistic beliefs.  It is not derived from any other holiday and is not an attempt to change or “secularize” any existing religious holiday.

By celebrating and expressing positive human values, such as reason, compassion and hope, the HumanLight holiday has a vibrant and authentic meaning for the secular, non-theistic, free-thought and humanist communities.
