Humanist Canada continues to expand the scope of secular Humanist critical thinking through activism, volunteerism and financial contributions which allow us to create new programs. By adding your voice to our growing secular movement, you join with us to promote the separation of religion from public policy and foster the development of reason, compassion and critical thinking of all Canadians.
Together, we are a resource for secular causes and Humanist groups across Canada and internationally, as we strive to create a more tolerant world where critical thinking and compassion prevails.
Support for Regional Associations
Humanist Canada facilitates the free exchange of ideas among local and regional Humanist associations across the country. We respond to inquiries for new groups and support them in their activities.
Humanist Officiant Program
We provide professional training, certification and resources for Humanist Officiants, who provide a valuable community service performing secular weddings, funerals, child welcomings and other celebrations.
Promotion of Secular Public Policy
We promote secular public policy as part of our collaboration with Canadian government agencies as well as with international organizations, including the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU).
Support for Education
Humanist Canada supports and advocates for activities that promote the principles of Humanism throughout Canada and around the world, including:
- Financial commitment to the Kasese School, a secular school in Uganda attended by approximately 400 students in a country where church participation is close to 90%.
- Publication of webinars, resources, courses, videos and printed material to further members’ depth of knowledge.
- Administration of the Dr. Henry Morgentaler Scholarship Fund to university students pursuing a medical degree with a focus on women’s health.
